The Power Play

The Power Play is one of the special teams of hockey. It is when a player gets a penalty and goes to the penalty box. This results in one team having an extra skater while one is shorthanded. The team on the power play typically cycles the puck around and tries to get shots from all angles. The point man is the quarterback of the power play and typically has the best vision on the unit. The guys on the sides are typically your shooters and have the best shots. You typically won't need a power play in a beer league but in some leagues you do.
