Have you ever wondered which skates to buy? Why they are so expensive? What's the difference between the price levels? There is a lot more that goes into purchasing hockey skates than most people realize. The brands that you typically want to purchase your skates from are CCM and Bauer. Only because these companies have the best reputation when it comes to skates. When selecting a price range for your skates, never go above $400 If you're a beginner. The skates you get that are more expensive are meant for high-level play, and if you are starting out, you won't need to spend that much money on skates. With the more expensive skate, you would be able to turn on a dime a lot easier as the blades are constructed differently but once again if you're just starting out you likely won't be playing in a super competitive league, however to each their own. I suggest going to a local hockey store and talking to the employees about your situation. Give them a firm price range, and they will give you an idea of the best pair of skates to buy. Have them bake the skates so they mold to your foot. Trust me, you'll thank me for that piece of advice. Then after that you're free to jump on the ice and begin skating!
